When you watch Collum play he plays with a great deal of effort. He explained what is behind that effort.
"My daddy died when I was 6, so, really, when I play I dedicate my game to him," said Collum. "That is why when I get hyped up that is where the emotions come from. I am doing it for my family, not for me."
Not only does he play with great effort, he's also physically talented enough to compete against guys bigger and smaller than him.
"On offense, I am a big mismatch," said Collum. "I am quick so when a big man gets on me I can bring the ball up and take him to the hole, and if a guard is on me I can post him up."
Due to his physical skills he can play just about anywhere on the court. And he is comfortable at any position.
"I can play anywhere but I play the three," said Collum. "But I am comfortable at the two, too."
Despite being a freshman in high school, Collum has already received a scholarship offer.
"Ole Miss has offered me," said Collum.
And Ole Miss is likely the first of many more offers.
"What the Ole Miss coaches have told me is what they are seeing now is not even all of it," said Collum. "They said I'm just getting started. They said give me a couple of more years and everybody will be looking at me. They said I will blow up."
