Going to bowl games has become a common occurrence for Mississippi State's football program. While the program will be going to it's sixth straight bowl game, this will be the first for Gray. And he couldn't be more excited!
"I am excited about my first bowl trip," said Gray. "I am just glad to be able to participate in a bowl game because we didn't have this in juco."
While he expects the team to be focused for the bowl game, he also sees it as a time where the players will be able to spend time together and enjoy their days in Charlotte, North Carolina.
"We are going to be focused but we are also going to have a lot of fun," said Gray. "We want to enjoy the bowl game and send the season off with a good note."
Although Gray had a very productive season, catching 19 passes for 346 yards an d 2 touchdowns, he has spent as much time as possible during the recent bowl practices fine tuning his overall game.
"I am still progressing and there is always a lot of room for improvement," said Gray. "During the bowl practices, I want to be the best that I can be. I want to become more consistent. I could improve reading my coverages, be more precise with my routes, but blocking is the most part of my game that I need to improve on."
He also wants to become more consistent catching the ball.
"There are a lot of people that say I can make the big catches but not make the small catches," said Gray. "But I pride myself on making the tough catches and the simple catches."
While the players are mainly focused on the upcoming bowl game, many of the younger ones are also thinking about next season.
"After the bowl practices, we all tried to go over to each other's house and chill, but for the young guys, we kind of try to predict what we want to do next year and how we want to go into the spring," said Gray.
