Meridian All-American defensive tackle flips to Mississippi State

While it may have come as no surprise. Meridian four star All-American defensive lineman Raekwon Davis gave Mississippi State fans the news they were hoping for this morning when he changed his verbal pledge from Alabama to the home state Bulldogs.

Raekwon Davis committed to Alabama in the very early stages of the recruiting process, but maintained throughout his senior season that he was still considering his options. Official visits to Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State were all slated for the month of January with the Bulldogs batting lead off this weekend.

As part of a dozen visitors, Davis took part in a full weeekend's of activities before meeting with Coach Dan Mullen to close out the official weekend. During that conversation, Davis made the move many have been expecting all along.

"I flipped to Mississippi State." Davis said. "I just told Coach Mullen. I am happy to be a Bulldog now."

Davis and his mother spent the weekend in Starkville to learn more about what the future holds in Starkville. A hero of the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game and a U.S. Amy All-American, Davis is one of his state's most sought after players.

We hope to have more with Davis later in the day
