East Central tight end Jordan Thomas recaps his visit to Mississippi State

Tight end Jordan Thomas has the makings of a second chance Mississippi junior college success story. Lightly recruited out of Sumrall High School, Thomas enrolled at East Central Community College when her helped ECCC into the NJCAA playoffs this season. Now committed to Mississippi State, Thomas is eager to realize his major college dreams.

"The visit went really well," Jordan Thomas said. "I really enjoyed it. My parents with me and they really enjoyed it too. It was just a great weekend."

"Thomas reports that the hospitality of Mississippi State was evident during the weekend's events.

"Coach (Dan) Mullen opened up his doors to us and served us dinner in his home," Thomas said. "We got to meet with the President (Dr. Mark Keenum), he opened his doors to us and made us all feel welcome. They made us feel like family and they were all excited to see us."

Thomas reports that his official visit host, Johnathan Calvin made him feel like a member of the active roster.

"They called him Kojak," Thomas said of Calvin. "He was the guy who made that hit that caused the interception in the bowl game. He played at Co-Lin and he told me about what it's like to make the move up there from JuCo."

Thomas had a tough time picking one highlight of the trip, but reports that yesterday's photo shoot in the Mississippi State locker room ranks near the top.

"When I put on my jersey, it really did something to me," Thomas said. "It was a great feeling. When I put it on, I just thought to myself what that meant and how my dreams were coming true. It really is a dream come true for me."

Before leaving Mississippi State for the final time before signing day, Thomas had the chance to speak with the Mississippi State coaches about what to expect going forward.

"Coach Mullen was just talking about how he can't wait for me to get there," Thomas said. "Coach (Scott) Sallach was telling me how he can't wait for me to get there and I can't wait to get up there. I have been looking forward to this my entire life and it's finally about to happen.

"I just have to finish up and then move up there this summer and get to work. I'm excited. I'm done with recruiting too. LSU had been talking to me about taking a visit down there, but I am not going to do that. I am just going to sign with Mississippi State and go get ready for the season."
