"When they asked me to come up and visit I was really excited because I have always dreamed of playing there but I really didn't know that much about it.," said Ginn, who chose MSU over Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Southeastern Louisiana. "But as they showed me around I was thinking to myself who wouldn't want to play in a place like this? It's just a baseball school. I really felt like I connected with all the coaches. And I think it's the best place for me to become the best player that I can be."
Ginn committed just a couple of days after attending the pitcher/catcher/infielder camp this past Saturday, the only college camp that he has attended since the summer.
"(The Mississippi State camp) is the only camp that I have attended since the summer," said Ginn. "I have always liked coming up here."
He met his future pitching coach for the first time while at the camp.
"That was the first time that I got to talk to (Mississippi State pitching) Coach (Wes) Johnson," said Ginn. "I like him. He knows a lot about arm care, velocity and mechanics."
How Ginn did during the camp was likely the reason the Bulldog coaching staff got the commitment from the talented youngster.
"(My fastball velocity) was 89, 90, 91, somewhere around there during the camp," said Ginn. "I didn't know I was going to throw that hard. This summer I was around 86-87. So, I guess I gained a little bit."
