Hicks' game, espeically offensively, has improved a lot since his days of playing with Quitman (MS) High School. His outside offensive game has improved leaps and bounds. He showed a mid-range game as well as the ability to make three-pointers, something that he didn't do much at Quitman. He gives his new teammates and coaches a lot of credit for that improvement.
"I have tried to improve on every aspect of my game and not just be a back to the basket post player. I have improved my game due to my teammates being so hard on me, my coaches being hard on me just wanting me to play aggressively, wanting me to score the ball," said Hicks. "I think that is where I have improved the most, scoring from everywhere on the court."
Although all of his teammates have pushed him, one has been the hardest on him.
"Eli Wright has been on me really hard because he tells me all of the time how good that I can be," said Hicks. "He pushes me every day. I tell him what he needs to improve on and he tells me what I need to improve on. We both want to play on the next level."
And Hicks will likely get the chance to play on the next level based on how his recruiting is going.
"I feel like my recruiting has picked up a lot because people are starting to see how my game has matured, how much I have improved," said Hicks. "I have been hearing from Providence, Marquette, Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, Texas State, Clemson and South Carolina."
