Brown explained how he wound up camping at Mississippi State.
"I got in touch with (Mississippi State assistant) Coach (Nick) Mingione and he asked me if I wanted to come to their camp, and I said yes," said Brown.
He came away impressed with what he saw while camping at State.
"I liked the atmosphere and I liked the town because it is a small town," said Brown, who threw his fastball consistently 83-84 and topped out in the 85-86 range while at the MSU camp. "The field is really nice. The coaching staff is really good, they know what they are talking about."
The Mississippi State coaches were equally impressed with the tall righty.
"They showed a lot of interest in me," said Brown. "They told me that they like my size and that I have a high ceiling."
Mississippi State is one of several schools, including a few that are in the SEC, that are recruiting him.
"Schools that are recruiting me are Georgia Tech, Duke, West Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and Mississippi State," said Brown, who has seen his fastball velo increase from 81 to 87 miles per hour from the summer of 2014 to the summer of 2015. " West Virginia has already offered me."
