A long time commitment to the University of Georgia, Aaron Dowdell elected to consider other options for his football future after the coaching change in Athens. A flurry of late suitors have arrived, but it appears only Central Florida and Mississippi State will get the chance to host Dowdell before signing day.
"I visited UCF last weekend," Dowdell said. "I had a good time up there with my family. They seem to really want me and I feel like that could be a good spot for me. It's not that far from home and it's a nice campus."
This weekend, Dowdell will get his chance to visit with the Bulldogs of Mississippi State. The Peach state product always fashioned himself as a Bulldog, but of the SEC Eastern division variety.
"Mississippi State got involved with me like right after I decommitted from Georgia," Dowdell said. "They got in touch with me and wanted to come and visit with me. They came last week and they talked to me about taking a visit there this weekend."
Another chance to play in the SEC, Mississippi State has talked with Dowdell about playing offensive guard. At 6-3, 295. The three star standout is eager to learn more about his opportunities in what will be his second visit to Starkville.
"I went to game over there last year," Dowdell said. "It was a great atmosphere and the fans were really into the game. This time I will be able to see a lot more and spend some more time with the coaches."
With the countdown to national signing day down to just a matter of days, Dowdell has to think fast and choose between a trio of schools who have really come on as of late.
"The schools I am considering right now are Mississippi State, Central Florida and Missouri," Dowdell explained. "I have to decide pretty soon. I am just trying to find the school and the program I can be the most comfortable with for the next four years.
"I am taking these visits and then I am going to talk about everything with my family. I may decide before signing day, but I am letting everybody know my decision on signing day."
