"They are waiting for me to take the ACT," Marquiss Spencer said. "They are going to get back with me and set up my visit after that. It will be sometime in the spring after I take the test."
While Spencer will not be part of the pre-signing day official visits, the talented defensive end has spent some time recently with the Bulldog coaching staff.
"Coach (David) Turner was just up here a couple of days ago," Spencer said. "He was going over all of the paperwork and all of the things that I need to do on signing day. I am so excited about all of that. I am just happy that it's finally here."
Spencer reports that one of the main reasons he chose the Bulldogs was the chance to play for Coach David Turner.
"I really like Coach Turner," Spencer said. "I think he's a great coach and a great man. He is always saying positive things and I am looking forward to him being my coach. I think I will fit in with his system. He is always telling me that he is ready to get me up there and that he is looking forward to coaching me."
Several schools showed varying levels of interest in the Greenwood, Mississippi four star during the recruiting process. In the end, Spencer is planning to sign on with the school he always hoped to play for.
"I have been thinking about all of that," Spencer said of inking a scholarship to Mississippi State. "I can't believe signing day is next week. I am happy about it and I am ready to sign. I have worked hard for this.
"I will be a college student in just a few months and I will be up there working with the team and getting ready for the season. It's like a dream come true for me."
While a handful of other schools offered, Spencer reports that down the stretch it was all Mississippi State.
"I haven't really been talking to anybody else," Spencer said. "I am just ready to sign and get over there and get started. I've just been talking with Coach Turner and staying on top of my grades."
