Starkville High School product Kobe Jones commits to home town team.

While it took longer than anyone expected, Starkville four star defensive lineman Kobe Jones is a Mississippi State Bulldog. At a signing day ceremony at Starkville High, Jones made his selection official by inking his national letter of intent ending his college recruitment.

Mississippi State was among the first schools to offer the talented Kobe Jones and even then Jones hinted that he may wait until National Signing Day to declare his intentions. Jones followed through on those early plans, but ultimately signed on with the program most expected him to be a part of.

The Scout 300 member collected several offers, but in the end elected to visit five programs officially. After a visit to Mississippi State the weekend of January 15th, Jones took four official visits in just over a week's time.

After a weekend in Tuscaloosa to see the Crimson Tide, Jones took mid week visits to both Miami and Missouri before making his fifth and final visit to Ole Miss.

Projected as a defensive end on the next level, Jones has the versatility to play either side of the line.

We will have more on this developing story as part of our full coverage of Mississippi State's National Signing Day event.
