Mississippi State (7-2) is making its first road trip of 2016 by going alllll the way west, playing a three-day, three-team series in Los Angeles. The Diamond Dogs take on UCLA Friday and Southern Cal Saturday, both on those clubs' campus fields.
But Sunday, ahhh, that sends the Bulldogs to Dodger Stadium for another inter-sectional contest and a truly neutral setting. Mississippi State meets Oklahoma on the fabled field of Chavez Ravine.
Prior to State's Wednesday departure, Cohen said righthander Dakota Hudson will start Friday's 8:00ct contest against UCLA. It's a rematch of the 2013 College World Series finals, of course, but not many players from either of those Omaha rosters are still around. The head coaches are the same though and Cohen said UCLA mentor John Savage was key in organizing this special event in the southern California sunshine. Or, will it be? Because Sunday's forecast is 90% for rain, unlike that song from the 1970s.
Cohen also talks about the value of such games on Mississippi State recruiting in this seven-minute-plus video.
