Mississippi State freshman Malik Newman plans to test the NBA draft waters, but does not plan to sign with an agent

One of the first big wins for Coach Ben Howland when he arrived at Mississippi State was signing Callaway High School (MS) superstar Malik Newman, A year removed from that inking, Howland is now working to keep the talented freshman on campus for at least one more season.

At 3 PM press conference, Malik Newman declared his intentions to enter his name in the talent pool for the up coming NBA draft. While this declaration is a major step, Newman does not plan to sign with an agent at this time leaving the door open for a possible return to Starkville should the feedback from professional teams not come back to his liking.

Newman helped lead the Bulldogs putting a more competitive team on the floor this season. Fans expected him to be a one and done player, but there appears to be some optimism that Newman may return for at least one more season at Mississippi State
