"I have 11 offers now," Saahdiq Charles said. "LSU was my latest one. They offered me and told me that I was the kind of offensive lineman that they were looking for. I like Coach (Les) Miles. I was glad that they offered me."
Several schools have been in touch with Charles about making a weekend visit to their campuses this weekend. Charles is still considering his options for a Saturday trip.
"Houston, Kentucky, LSU and Mississippi State have all invited me to come," Charles said. "I know I am going to be able to get to Kentucky and probably not Houston. I will be either be LSU or Mississippi State this weekend."
Charles is a name on the rise in recruiting circles. Considered as one of his home state's top offensive lineman, Charles has options and interest from close to two dozen college programs.
"I am enjoying the process," Charles said. "I have some good offers and I appreciate all of the schools that are recruiting me. Of the schools that have offered me, I sort of like LSU and Mississippi State the best.
"There are some other schools that are going to come see me in the spring. Ole Miss is probably going to end up offering me, but I think they want to see me in camp before they do anything."
It appears that schools looking to make an impression on Charles still have time to do so. Unlike many other college football hopefuls, Charles is not planning a pre-season decision.
"I am just not sure what I want to do and I am probably just going to wait until after the season to decide," Charles said. "I feel like then I will know what all of my offers are and who is really serious about me.
"I am excited about the season and I think we have the chance to have a good team."
Charles reports that he has been invited to several summer camps, but that he is still sorting through those invites. The talented big man wants to have the chance to work out with college coaches who are in contention for his signing day signature and who can help him prepare to be the best offensive lineman he can be as a high school senior.
With options in hand from Arkansas State, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Mississippi State, South Alabama and others, Charles has some thinking to do. His interactions with college coaches this summer will likely go a long way in his decision making process.
