STARKVILLE, Miss. The Southeastern Conference announced Thursday that all league athletic events would not be played as scheduled this weekend, including football games on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The Mississippi State-Brigham Young University game, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. (CT), at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field, has been postponed. MSU Director of Athletics Larry Templeton and BYU Director of Athletics Val Hale will discuss possible make-up dates next week.

"The Southeastern Conference joins all of the other major sporting entities in the nation in postponing all athletic events including the football games scheduled for Sept. 15," an official SEC release said. "The conference continues to believe this country must begin the healing process following the horrendous events this past week and will evaluate all future schedules at an appropriate time."

The conference also reaffirms its commitment of $1,000,000 to the funds that will assist the victims of this event.

Mississippi State will play host to the University of South Carolina as scheduled, Thursday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. (CT) at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field.
