Sarasota, Florida wideout Osirus Mitchell plans to officially visit Mississippi State this week.

While Mississippi State inked several talented football prospects earlier this year, Coach Dan Mullen and his staff are still looking to add some quality reinforcements to the 2016 signing crop. On Tuesday, Booker High School (FL) wide receiver Osirus Mitchell plans to take an official visit to Starkville to learn more about his options as a Bulldog.

"I just started hearing from Mississippi State like Friday of last week when I was getting ready to take my visit to Minnesota," Osirus Mitchell said. "They just really started talking to me and I have been doing a lot of research about them in the past few days."

Mitchell is slated to visit Mississippi State Tuesday though Thursday of this week, but there are some other programs looking to get the 6-5, 200 pounder in for a trip prior to him making a final decision.

"Bowling Green and Illinois are talking about me visiting them this weekend. but I am not sure what I am going to do yet," Mitchell said. "They are supposed to come see me, but I am going to see what happens with Mississippi State first."

To date, the Bulldogs have not extended an offer, but Mitchell believes one may be on the way in short order.

"They haven't offered me yet, but I think once I take the visit that they are going to end up offering me," Mitchell explained. "I am just really getting to know them and we're all about to meet this week for the first time. I don't know that much about Mississippi State, so I am ready to see what they have to offer."

A handful of schools extended offers to Mitchell during his senior year, but most of his options have come here in the spring as the talented X wide receiver's prospects with the NCAA Clearinghouse have improved.

"I didn't really have good junior film," Mitchell said. "I was sort of a late bloomer and I am a late qualifier. I had some FCS schools and some smaller schools that offered me earlier this year, but my father and my coach thought it would be best to wait it out and see if I couldn't get some other offers. I didn't sign and now I am getting the chance to get some other offers."

Fresh off of an official visit to Minnesota, Mitchell has some thinking to do about his college future, but the time frame for his deliberations are abbreviated.

"I am going to be able to enroll this summer with everybody else who signed back in February," Mitchell said. "I am going to have to decide pretty soon and things are happening pretty fast right now. I am going to take this visit to Mississippi State and see what happens before I make my decision."
