Despenza explained how the camp helped him as a player.
"I came to this camp last year and I came back this year to try and get better and learn from different coaches and their different point of views," said Despenza, who played defensive end and linebacker for the Hamilton High School varsity team as a 9th grader. "(New Mississippi State linebackers coach Peter Sirmon) helped me play better, think better and concentrate more."
Mississippi State is one of two camps that Despenza will attend this summer.
"Last week I went to a camp at Alabama," he said. "I was supposed to go to a camp at Georgia but I couldn't. I will go there next year."
Despenza is just now starting the recruiting process. Although no schools have sent letters to him, he is being talked to at the camps that he attends.
"Schools aren't showing recruiting interest in me right now but they talk to me at the camps that I go to, schools like Alabama and (Mississippi) State," said Despenza.
