Ballard is traveling the SEC camp circuit this summer with the hopes of generating interest from the schools.
"I am a big SEC fan and would love to play for an SEC school," said Ballard, who runs a 4.5 in the forty. "I have been hitting up a bunch of SEC camps. We just went to the Mississippi State camp. We have gone to Ole Miss, Auburn and we plan on going to Tennessee and Vanderbilt."
He enjoyed his time camping at Mississippi State.
"It was a great experience," said the 6-foot, 196-pounder. "The coaching staff is very friendly. It felt like home. The school and the campus are not too big and I like that."
As for Mississippi State's football program, he liked what he saw while before, during and after the camp.
"I think they are a great program," said Ballard. "They seemed committed to the sport of football. I like that they have a football facility all to themself. The weight room looked nice. The coaching staff is great."
Several SEC schools have taken noticed of the talented running back.
"Auburn, Vanderbilt, Memphis and Duke are recruiting me and Mississippi State has been following me for a little while," said Ballard. "I have an offer from Tennessee Tech."
