Describe the type player that Andre Tarver is.
"He is an incredible athlete. He is a special, special talent. He is a big-time athlete in football, too. He can run well, He can hit for power, hit for average. He has a really good arm. In centerfield he can track balls. He is probably one of the best that I have ever seen at that for his age. I think he is one of the few kids that I have seen that is a 5-tool guy. He can do everything. In my personal opinion I think he is one of the top 25, 50 players in the country. Personally, I think he will have to make another decision (about the Major League Baseball draft) before he leaves high school."

Why did he decide to commit?
"His high school team went down to one of the Mississippi State team camps last summer. And he really liked it. He went back down there Tuesday (June 28th) and was in awe of everything. They made a really good offer. He had a lot of other (schools) that were involved in his recruitment. But they made a really good offer and he, basically, wanted to go ahead and make that decision (to commit)."

What other schools showed recruiting interest in him?
"Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Georgia. Those three schools were really the ones that were in on him. But a lot of teams were making a push on him but Mississippi State got in there before everybody else and kind of wrap him up before anyone else had a really good shot at him."

What kind of hitter is he?
"I think he is a guy who is going to hit for average but he has some juice, too. I think for sure he is going to be a big-time doubles hitter and he has the ability to run it out of the yard, too. He has a quiet approach at the plate and doesn't try to do too much. The thing about Andre is not much gets to him. He is a kid who is not going to get flustered. He is the kind of kid who can be 0 for 10 or 10 for 10 and we won't have a clue because he is the exact same all of the time. His demeanor and outlook fits the SEC really well."

You mention that he has good speed. Is he a base stealer?
"He is. My guess is he is a 6.6, 6.7 runner. But the thing is he is only 15 years old. He can definitely steal bases. I don't think he has been thrown out this summer."

How good do you think he can be by the end of his high school baseball career?

"I don't tell him this but he has a chance to be a top 2 or 3 round pick (in the Major League Baseball draft) if he develops and continues to work at it."
