New Diamond Dog Pitching Boss Getting To Know His Staff Now after Summer on Recruiting Trail

He was surprised to get the call, and job offer, only three weeks after stepping down at Kentucky. But it didn’t take long for Gary Henderson to say yes to John Cohen and become Mississippi State’s pitching coach.

Hired in June, Henderson hasn’t had a lot of chances to talk about his new employer and position. He’s been busy with recruiting more than anything else, because as Henderson said he’s now going after a different sort of player in different regions than he courted for Kentucky.

For that matter Henderson said he’s barely watched video of the inherited and incoming Diamond Dog pitching corps for 2017. Though, “They play catch good!” he joked.

Thursday for the first time Henderson met with the MSU press corps as a group.
