Four Bulldogs have been named to the Coaches Preseason All-SEC teams, announced today by the league office. The three complete teams included kickers and return men. Coaches could not vote for their own players.
No Mississippi State player made the first team. The highest-selected Bulldog is, not surprisingly, receiver Fred Ross who was one of the two wideouts on the second team.
Running back Brandon Holloway was on the third team per the coaches, but he did so twice. Holloway was tabbed at not only his primary position, but in his better-known role as return specialist.
Also on the third team, the defensive side, were linebacker Richie Brown and lineman A.J. Jefferson.
The Coaches team matched the Media Days selections from State, mostly. The press named Ross to their second team; and both Brown and Jefferson to the third team. The difference was how much more the coaches respect Holloway.
Mississippi State was wrapping up preseason practice this Thursday morning, before Coach Dan Mullen gives his players a weekend break.
