Mississippi State falls to South Alabama 21-20 in a frustrating opening contest.

Mississippi State suffered a season opening loss to South Alabama on Saturday. The Bulldogs jumped ahead 17-0, but South Alabama would not go away. The Jaguars were the better team in the second half and saw their record advance to 1-0 with Bulldog kicker Westin Grave's game winning field goal attempt hitting the left upright. Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen met with the media following the game.
