Class of 2021 power-hitting first baseman Blaze Jordan talks about his commitment to Mississippi State

Desoto Central (MS) class of 2021 power-hitting first baseman Blaze Jordan commits to Mississippi State.

  • Name: Blaze Jordan
  • Classification: 2021
  • Position: 1B
  • Ht: Wt: 6-foot-1, 220
  • Bats-Throws: R-R
  • High School: Desoto Central High School
  • Schools of Interest: Committed to Mississippi State

"I committed to Coach (Andy) Cannizaro about an hour ago," said Jordan. "When I told him he got super excited. The feeling that I had was unbelievable. I don't know how to describe it."

He explained why Mississippi State received his commitment.

"I was really thinking about the better fit," said Jordan. "I really like the new stadium and the new coach that they brought in. I also really like that we can use our own bats. I felt like that would be a better fit for me. I also love the fanbase there. Everything just worked out there."

Jordan has known for almost a week that he was going to commit to Mississippi State.

"I actually made my decision last Tuesday," said Jordan. "I waited to commit because the head coach was visiting family for Thanksgiving and I wanted to wait until he got back from that."

He also called one other coach on the Mississippi State staff to tell him that he was committing, his recruiting coach Will Coggin.

"I called Coach Coggin right after I called Coach Andy," said Jordan. "He was super excited, too."

Although Jordan didn't know it, today is Coggin's birthday. I would have to say that was a pretty good birthday present for Coach Coggin.
