He pointed out the reasons why he chose Mississippi State.

"Mississippi State is where I have always wanted to play and where I was comfortable at," said Puckett.

Puckett chose Mississippi State over recruiting interest from several schools.

"I was also recruited by Arizona, LSU, Duke Notre Dame and Virginia," said Puckett.

While he will miss playing for former Bulldog head coach John Cohen, he is excited about the opportunity of playing for new Mississippi State head baseball coach Andy Cannizaro.

"I really like Coach Cannizaro," said Puckett. "He brings a lot of energy to the table. It made me excited to come play for Mississippi State."
