"I had a great visit to Mississippi State," Jaquarius Landrews "I like everything they are saying. I liked what I heard from Coach (Dan) Mullen, Coach Mo (Maurice Linguist) and the defensive coordinator (Peter Sirmon). They are telling me that I have a real good opportunity at Mississippi State."
Landrews has the chance to spend the weekend with fellow Mississippi Pine Belt product, Leo Lewis. Landrew and Lewis were part of some great rivalry games between Brookhaven and McComb.
"I have known Leo for a long time. We played against each other in high school," Landrews said. "I know that he will be straight with me and he told me that you have to come in and work. He said that they work really hard and that you have really want it.
"I just love how focused he is. He's laid back about everything, but he's always focusing on football. He said that he spends just about all of his time on his school work and then all of the things he needs to do for football. I love it, because that's the kind of person I am."
Before making the return trip to Wesson, Mississippi for finals week at Co-Lin, Landrews had the chance to talk about the future of Mississippi State football and where he would fit into the Bulldogs' plans.
"Coach Mullen wanted to know what it was going to take to get me up there," Landrews said. "He told me that they need me up there in the secondary and that he needed me to come in January and be ready to play. He said that he needs me to come in prepared to work and be ready to help the secondary make plays. I can tell that they really want me up there."
On the visit with Landrews was three Co-Lin teammates, Tommy Champion, Deion Pope and Montez Sweat. The talented defensive back reports that being able to take the next step in his football career with familiar faces is a big part of his deliberations.
"It was great being able to experience the weekend with those guys," Landrews said. "I feel like it would make it easier being able to go in there with people I know and that I already have a relationship with. We have already done a lot of things together, so it would be sort of like being at Co-Lin, but on another level."
Landrews reports that he will make his final decision in the coming days in anticipation of a formal declaration on December 14th.
"I am going to announce everything on the 14th. I already have that set up," Landrews said. "It will either be Minnesota or Mississippi State. I am done with visits now. I am just going to take the next few days and think about everything. I have final coming up, so that's what I am thinking about most of all."
