"When I committed I was on my visit," said Cook. "(Mississippi State head) Coach Cannizaro's reaction was great. He was super happy and welcomed me to the Bulldog family."
There were numerous reasons why he chose Mississippi State.
"The reasons that I chose Mississippi State is because the coaches are amazing, I love the facilities, they are like no other, the fanbase is great, they have the best atmosphere in the country," said Cook, ranked the 58th best player in the class of 2020 by Perfect Game.
The two coaches who played the biggest part in his recruitment were Cannizaro and assistant coach Will Coggin.
"I love Coach Cannizaro," said Cook. "He is a huge reason why I chose Mississippi State. He is by far my favorite coach that I visited. And Coach Coggin is a cool guy. He is young and fits in with the players well and I love that."
Cook explained why the Mississippi State coaches offered him a scholarship.
"They said they heard I was a great kid from all the people that they talked to," said Cook. "And (Coggin) saw me play in Fort Myers, Florida, and he said he loved the way that I play."
Several SEC and ACC schools recruited Cook.
"I visited Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss, and Alabama wanted me to come for a visit," said Cook, who received offers from MSU, Tennessee and Georgia Tech.
