Eldred has attended camps at the two Mississippi SEC schools. And both came away impressed with what they saw.
"(Mississippi State assistant) Coach (Mike) Brown talked to me and said that he likes my arm strength and my bat," said Eldred. "He told me if can continue with that I would be alright. (The MSU coaches) told me that I need to improve my foot speed. I ran a 6.9 there. They also gave me some great tips that would allow me to improve my game.
"They said they are going to come to some of my high school games and they would also follow me some this summer."
He came away just as impressed with Mississippi State after attending their camp.
"(The camp) was really great," said Eldred. "It was great to be out there and be with some of the best kids around and be around the coaches. They are all great guys. It was great to have a chance to compete for an offer (from Mississippi State). I definitely think I can play there someday."
Ole Miss' coaches also told him they were interested in him.
"After my performance at the Ole Miss camp, they said they were interested in looking at me," said Eldred.
Eldred talked about his strengths as a baseball player.
"My main strengths are my arm and my hitting ability." said the talented youngster. "Ever since I was a little kid growing up with an older brother, the main thing I wanted to be good at was my hitting ability. I want to be like the greats (in baseball). I model myself after (Major League Baseball player) Mike Trout. He has a great arm and a great bat. And that is what I want to be able to do."
