Mississippi State, who bypassed the first two rounds of the tournament due to finishing second in the regular season, defeated No. 7 seed LSU 78-61 to advance to today’s game.
Texas A&M has won their first two games in the tournament to advance, 67-48 over Florida and 62-48 over Missouri.
Both teams were coming off multi-game losing streak in the regular season, Texas A&M had lost four in a row while MSU had lost two.
The teams played each other twice during the regular season with Mississippi State winning both games, 71-61 at home and 72-67 on the road.
Victoria Vivians led MSU in scoring in both games, 18 and 25 points, while Teaira McCowan was second with 10 and 16.
Curtyce Knox and Danni Williams were the leading scorers for Texas A&M with Knox scoring 20 and 19 points and Williams 23 and 15.
The game will be televised on ESPNU. It will start 25 minutes after the first semifinal game between Kentucky and South Carolina which will begin at 4 p.m. CT.
