"(Prior to playing in the tournament) I didn't really know much about Mississippi State other than knowing about a player who is committed to Mississippi Sate, Mason Land," said McCants, who has also visited Alabama and Samford while playing for East Coast Baseball. "I really like the school and I like their setup. I love their indoor facility for baseball and football. It is nice and it is air conditioned. And they also have a nice field. I also have heard that they are rebuilding a bunch of things."

While on the MSU campus, McCants had the chance to visit with Mississippi State head coach Andy Cannizaro.

"I think he is a great guy," said McCants, who is rated an 8.5 out of 10 by the Perfect Game baseball scouting website."He said he liked what he saw from me when I was hitting. He opened up to me and gave me a bunch of pointers that will help me in the game. It was a big deal to me that he talked to me because it was the first time. I definitely think he is looking for what is in my best interest."

One of the top players in the 2020 class, McCants described his game both offensively and defensively.

"I feel like I am good at plate coverage and I can hit the ball to either field," said McCants. "I can make the pitcher throw a lot of pitches. I have some power but I don't have the strength to hit them out with a wood bat yet.

"Defensively, I cover a lot of ground but my arm can definitely get a lot stronger. I am also aggressive at charging ground balls. I feel like I have a good baseball IQ in the field."
