Cleveland is the son of Roger and Beverly Cleveland of Coldwater, Miss.

What schools recruited you out of high school?
Brett Cleveland: "Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State, Memphis really recruited me kind of hard. There were quite a few others that sent me letters."

Did you grow up a fan of Mississippi State?
Brett Cleveland: "Yes, I did. I have always wanted to come here. I have been going to football games my entire life. I've also come to a few baseball games and really wanted to play here."

Did you commit to Mississippi State during your visit or did you wait a few days afterwards?
Brett Cleveland: "I actually committed about a week after my visit. I called (former MSU) Coach Case and told him this was where I wanted to play."

After you committed here did you cancel any visits that you had planned on taking?
Brett Cleveland: "Yes, Ole Miss."

How has your experience at Mississippi State been so far?
Brett Cleveland: "It has been great. Everybody loves Coach Polk and the way he does things. He is a real fiery guy. He makes you want to come to practice because he makes it fun."

Was it like a dream come true when you saw that Coach Polk was the one who would replace Coach McMahon?
Brett Cleveland: "Yes, it was. When I heard that Coach McMahon was leaving, I was kind of worried about who was going to get the job. When I found out that Coach Polk was the new coach I was very excited. I can't explain how great it felt."
