What is the general mood of the team?
"It is a new season. We are just now starting SEC play, so it's a new season. We are fine, morale-wise."
In your opinion, what has caused the offense to start off slow each game? It seems like once you get started, you do great but the first quarter seems to be a problem.
"It could be jitters but it's really hard to say. Against Oregon, we had the turnover. We got stopped on fourth down last week (against Houston). The end results on those drives have to be points instead of the other team getting the ball back."
Something that has not been talked about is two of your first three games have been on the road and it is always difficult to win on the road no matter who the opponent is. Your next three games will be at home. That has to help.
"It's always good to play at home. I think we need to play at home and get some energy from the fans."
Going back to Tulane and Houston, you have seen a lot of teams during your five years here. How does Tulane and Houston compare to those other teams?
"College football is a lot closer, talent-wise, than people realize. Look at Northern Illinois (beating) Alabama or Kansas State (getting beat by) Marshall. Both are from smaller conferences and are not supposed to win but the talent gap between the first 22 players is not that wide. I think it is a misconception that those teams don't have good athletes.
"You learn it doesn't matter what the team is like on paper, you all play the games on the field. Tulane and Houston have good football teams, but we have to be ready to come out and play regardless of who we are playing. It doesn't matter whether it is Tulane, Houston or LSU."
Michael Vick completely turned around Virginia Tech. Do you think one great player, especially a quarterback, can turn a program around?
"Michael Vick was an exception because he does so many things. I think one person can help but he needs the other 10 people around him, just like any other team. Football is a team sport."
How do you as a senior help keep the other guys from getting frustrated?
"You have to put things behind you and move on. You have to play the next play and not worry about the last one. If we worry about what happened our first three games, it will carry over to Saturday."
What do you think about LSU?
"LSU has a good football team, no doubt about it."
Talent-wise, are they one of the best teams you have seen since you have been here?
"Talent-wise, they are up there, they are one of the best that we have seen. LSU always has good talent. They are number 7 in the country. You aren't going to be in the top 10 unless you have great talent. They are going to be one of the best teams that we play and one of the best defenses that we will play. I am anxious to get out there and see what we can do, especially offensively."
Do you guys look at the internet message boards during the season to read what the fans are thinking?
"I don't look at them. I don't know if other guys do or not, but I know I don't pay attention to them because they are all just opinions. Everybody has them and everybody has a right to them, but that's why I don't pay attention to them, good, bad or otherwise."
