When did you learn you were going to start?
"I think Monday. It might have been Tuesday. I'm not really sure."
Did it make any difference to you that you started?
"It really didn't make any difference. It felt good, but it doesn't matter to me who starts. Either way it goes, I'm still going to get the job done. I know I'm going to work hard everyday and I know that Nick (Turner) is going to work hard everyday."
How would you rate your performance?
"I feel like I did pretty good. I could have done better. I missed a couple of blocks."
Did you guys think establishing the run early would be a key?
"Yeah. I think it was the first play of the game when big Otis (Riddley) went down and we had to go from there. We just had to go from there. I kind of figured we could run the ball. We have a talent to do that."
How does it feel to get the first win of the season?
"Man, that first win feels good. I just thank for the Lord for giving me the opportunity to get my first touchdown. I have been waiting on that."
Is the win something you can build on?
"Oh yeah. Like I said, we can't do anything but improve. We can't get any worse. We are just trying to work hard everyday and go from there."
What did you feel when you scored the touchdown?
"Man, I was just glad to get into the endzone. When I burst up through the hole, I knew I was going to get in there. Man, it was a good feeling."
Do you feel the team played well in all aspects of the game?
"Oh yeah, everybody played together. Coach (Sherrill) told us to just go out and have fun. And that is what we did."
Late in the fourth quarter, you were giving great effort and their player stripped the ball from you.
"I had a yard to get and I felt like I could beat the dude. He didn't really tackle me. He just came up and grabbed me and stripped the ball. I was trying to give a second effort and go for the touchdown but he stripped the ball."
Did you tell yourself MSU is the unluckiest team in America when that happened?
"No, I knew the defense was going to hold up. They played a real good game today."
What do you think about their improvement each week?
"I feel like the secondary has improved a lot since the first game. Also, the D-line has improved. They are coming around."
Is it nice to finally see the defense starting to make big plays?
"Oh yeah, you can't win with the offense only, you have to win with the defense, too."
