What other schools were you considering other than Mississippi State?
"The other school that I was probably considering was Southern Miss. That was it."
Have you visited them?
"I was planning on it, but I decided to go ahead and commit to Mississippi State."
What was it that you liked about Mississippi State?
"Mainly, it was due to Coach Croom. I haven't ever known a coach like him and I only knew him for two or three days. I felt like I have known him for all my life. That is what kind of person he is. When we were at the luncheon, he was out mingling with the parents and just talking to us one on one. He called us in the room and talked to us one on one and told us how excited he is about the upcoming class. He is a real nice, down-to-earth guy. He stresses coaching with class and character, none of that celebrating and all that. He said when you make a tackle act like you have done it before."
Did you know anything about Coach Croom prior to meeting him?
"My law and society teacher used to be his next door neighbor. He used to tell me what kind of good guy he was and what type of man he was. And I was curious to see if that was a myth or not. And I found out that it was true."
When did Mississippi State get involved in your recruitment?
"I was getting letters prior to his arrival. Coach Jackie Sherrill was sending me letters in the mail, but I never did go down there and watch them practice or anything like that like I did with Alabama."
Has anyone come in for an in-home visit with you?
"Coach Croom came over yesterday."
Did you commit while he was visiting you?
"I committed last night while he was there."
What did he say when you committed?
"He said, 'I am so proud of you, congratulations. You made the right choice.' He stood up and shook my hand and that was it."
What did Mississippi State's coaches say they liked about you?
"I believe I fit in their defensive scheme real well. I have the ability to play the defensive end position or play linebacker. Basically, I am a two-in-one package."
What scheme are they running?
"They are running the base 4-3, but Coach (Ellis) Johnson showed me more sets that I would work well in."
What were your stats this past year?
"I had 86 tackles and 10 sacks."
What position did you play?
"Toward the end of the season I started at defensive end a little bit more because I had an advantage over the slow linemen because I was a little bit quicker than they were. But I have been playing defensive end only a year and I have been playing linebacker for four years."
How would you describe the type player you are?
"I am very aggressive, never give up on a play, very quick off the ball, aware of my surrounding, plan on taking you down."
