How was your visit to Mississippi State?
"I enjoyed it. The people up there are great. I liked the town of Starkville. They are homey people. Everybody knows everybody else. The people are nice. The academics at Mississippi State are great. They have a 70% graduation rate. Why wouldn't you like a school like that?"
When did Mississippi State start recruiting you?
"They've been sending me letters for a while but they had never gotten in touch with me. I never paid any attention to them until Coach (Amos) Jones called me. That's when it started to click."
What was your impressions of the MSU coaching staff?
"They are together, they are up on it. It all goes through Coach Croom. They have a linebacker coach and a defensive coordinator who may say it's a go but Coach Croom has to give his decision. They can't just say that's the kid I want. Coach Croom has to make sure everything fits."
It sounds like he's in total control?
"Yes sir, he's doing it."
Is that the kind of coach you like?
"Yes sir, because that means everything is going to be done right."
What was it like during your one on one conference with him?
"When I was talking to him I was just happy to be able to sit in front of a guy like that. Things I could talk to Coach Jones and Coach Johnson about I couldn't say to him because he has been places and done things that I want to do."
Are you referring to him coaching in the NFL?
"Yes sir, and he has been down here in Alabama and coached for Coach (Bear) Bryant."
What did he say he liked about you as a player?
"He said he liked my speed and liked me as a person. He said I'm the type person he wants around his program. He said that he liked me on tape but because I'm a linebacker and that's where they really need players, he sid he didn't want to do anything that he will regret. He doesn't want to tell you something that he doesn't mean. When it comes down to picking linebackers, he wants the best people for everything. He's looking at me now and evaluating me. Coach Jones and Coach Johnson both like me. Coach Croom wants to evaluate everything before making the final decision. When he says he is offering you, he wants you. He doesn't want to go back on his word. He told me to go on my visits but not to make a decision until I hear back from him."
What did MSU's linebacker coach, Amos Jones say he likes about you?
"He likes how fast I am. He likes that I like to hit and never quit on the ball."
Who was your player host?
"Chris Swain. That is a great guy, a great kid. He was very gracious and told me a lot about life and playing ball in general."
What other schools are looking at you?
"Several D-I AA schools are looking at me. Alabama was looking at me but they had this situation with a kid at Tuscaloosa. I guess he stayed with them. Alabama A&M and Jacksonville State have offered me already."
What other visits are you going on?
"I am probably going to take my visits to Alabama A&M and Jacksonville State. If the Mississippi State deal doesn't go through, then I'm going with A&M."
What will you do if Mississippi State comes in with a scholarship offer?
"If State wanted to offer me before February 4th, I will go with State."
