    Ray Flakes (Kisan's mother)

What did you think about the visit?
"I thought the campus was very nice. They treated everybody so royally, of course. I got a chance to listen to (MSU coach) Croom talk to the group and heard him say what he intends to do. It sounded very good and very promising. I like the way academics was stressed. It seems like they take care of their players. They have got all kinds of neat stuff, a new athletic center, plans for doing a new indoor facility. There were 13 other recruits there and about 7 other groups of parents."

As a mother, what were some of the concerns that you had and were they alleviated after going on the visit?
"I really didn't have any concerns about Starkville other than the fact that it is kind of rural. I liked the fact that Starkville is not too big of a city. It doesn't offer a whole of distractions for young guys, stuff to get into that they have no business getting into like bigger cities have. That was good. The town seems to be a real sports town and seems to really support football and the other sports at the school."

What did you think about Coach Croom and the other coaches?
"I got the impression that they are going to try and make sure those boys are all that they can be as young men first, then everything else will fall in line. I really feel they are going to take care of them."

How did your visit to Mississippi State go?
    "It was fun."

What were your impressions of Mississippi State?
"I was really impressed with their new coaching staff. All of the coaches impressed me. I really liked the training and conditioning coach (Jim Nowell). We both know Derrick Smith who came from Lovejoy. He also told me that he had coached at LSU. He also told me how his system is used by LSU, USC, Auburn and Miami and other schools like that. I have been looking for somebody to get me bigger and faster. And I know that I will need that to go to the next level."

Did you have a one on one conference with Coach Croom? If so, what were your impressions of him?
"Yeah, the first day I got there I got to do a one on one. He is cool. He is funny. I know he is serious about his job but he has that sense of humor that connects with you. He is a good guy. My coach also knows of him and they are cool and good friends."

Where does Mississippi State stand with you after your visit?
"They are high up there because of their new staff and because their offense is a West Coast offense with a lot of passing. My coach told me if they offer it, take it."

Has Mississippi State offered a scholarship?
"I thought that they had offered but Coach Croom said he has to look at one or two other quarterbacks or something like that. Their coach is supposed to be stopping by the school to let me know what is up. So really, I'm not sure."

What schools do you still have visits scheduled?
"Middle Tennessee (1/16), Illinois/Nebraska (1/23) and Central Florida (1/30). Coach Blake, (formerly) of Mississippi (State), has tried to get me up to Nebraska for a visit but I'm not really sure about that. My coach is going to keep me informed."
