Surviving the first 5 minutes of the game.
"We knew coming into this game if we could survive those first five minutes that we have the type basketball team that can play here because we have some skill level, we have some guys who I thought could handle their pressure and most importantly, I thought we were the tougher basketball team coming into this game."
Keeping the Florida crowd out of the game.
"We had to keep the emotion out of the crowd by keeping it close or getting a lead. And we were able to do that."
Leading at halftime over Florida.
"I asked my kids at halftime if they really understood the position they put themselves in for twenty minutes. I have been at Mississippi State for 14 years and I guess I have been down here 8 times and it seems like it has never been a close basketball game. Not just us, but for most teams that come in here. That's not just because of the atmosphere but because Florida has one of the best basketball teams in the country."
The play of his team.
"Those young men came into this game really believing they could win it. They played with poise, great confidence, they never got rattled. I thought that Shane Power did an unbelievable job at the back of the press making plays. Lawrence was a warrior on the backboards. We guarded them just about as well as you could guard them. We made some decisions how to do some things and our guards and post guys executed them to a tee."
His team's strategy against Florida's press.
"You can't get into a run and gun three-point shooting contest with them. They have too many three-point shooters, too much depth, too much energy in this building. We had to attack early. We had to handle the back of the press first. If you can't get out of that first trap, you don't have to worry about it, they will score it. If you can handle the back of the press, then you have to attack. Take the easy baskets and keep attacking. The way you have to attack it is to throw it inside or play off the dribble some."
MSU the better team on this night.
"We were the best basketball team on the floor tonight. There is no question about that. From start to finish, there was no question we were the most poised, the most confident. And no question our ability to defend and rebound was huge for us. While we played a little zone, we went with, basically, what our team is best at, man to man toughness. And we took away their three-point shot most of the night."
MSU undefeated on the road this season.
"That is nine in the row on the road for us this year, six non-conference games and three and zero in the league. To go on the road and win, you have to have something that we had in that lockerroom, a lot of heart and toughness. And we have that."
The importance of a sold out crowd this coming Saturday against Georgia.
"Everybody was there against Kentucky. There is no question that we need that Saturday afternoon because that does so much for our basketball team. We are playing a very, very good Georgia basketball team and we will need all the help that we can get."
