MSU is 7-9 vs. Arkansas, taking the last two meetings including the overtime win during the last meeting in Starkville, Jan. 24, 2002 (85-82). State is 5-2 in Starkville.
The Lady Bulldog guard duo of juniors Tan White and Tiania Burns will lead the charge. Burns is averaging 14.7 ppg and was the only Lady Bulldog in double digits in scoring at Auburn with 12 points.
Arkansas (13-6, 2-4) is looking to snap a three game losing skid in conference play when they travel to Starkville. The Lady Razorbacks have most recently fallen to Vanderbilt (74-69), Auburn (71-44) and LSU (73-65).
The Lady Bulldogs will have a tough task ahead, trying to stop the SEC's leading scorer, senior foward Shameka Christon. Christon is averaging 21.3 ppg, seventh best in the country. Sophomore post Ruby Vaden is the other Arkansas player posting double digits with 11.9 ppg. One big difference between the two is free throw percentage. MSU averages 70.1 from the charity stripe, while the Lady Razorbacks are only 58.8 from the line.
After Sunday, MSU hits the road to finish up non-conference play at New Orleans on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. CT.
