MSU fans show support for their Bulldogs

Once again the Mississippi State Bulldogs fans came out to show their support for this year's MSU basketball team after the self-proclaimed Road Warriors pulled out another road victory over another SEC team, this time the Arkansas Razorbacks in Bud Walton Arena.

Although there were a couple of hundred MSU fans waiting outside the Hump at 11:30 p.m. for the team's arrival, two current MSU students made a special effort to show this team how much their efforts meant to them by driving on wet, slippery roads from the Hard Rock Cafe in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Starkville - all the while listening to the game on the radio - then, after the Bulldogs sealed the victory over the Razorbacks, baking chocolate chip cookies for the players, coaches, a few other students and even this lucky media member.

Taneka Milliner, a junior majoring in Special Education, is, ironically, from Oxford, Mississippi, while Anya Henry, a senior Finance major, is from Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Both of these very special young ladies explained how they wound up at Mississippi State University.

"I hate Ole Miss," said Taneka, jokingly. Actually, Taneka chose to attend MSU because, "in the third grade, my brother came to football camp here and I liked it and wanted to come to school here. Like my mom told me, even before I can remember, I always said I was a Bulldog."

Anya took a different route. Unlike Taneka, who lived in Oxford before attending MSU, Anya initially decided Ole Miss was the right place for her so she spent her first year of college there, majoring in Pre-Dental, before deciding MSU was the place she really wanted to be. Her reason for moving on was, "I am a big sports fan and I had a lot of friends who went here, so I decided to come here instead."

Obviously, with the season this soon-to-be 4th ranked Mississippi State basketball team is having, there is no doubt both of these young ladies are very happy with their decisions. I have a strong feeling, after eating one of the cookies they made, the basketball team is also very happy these two ladies chose MSU.
