Class of 2005 Prospect - MS RB Carlos Kern

Carlos Kern (Clarksdale HS, 6-foot-1, 195, 4.5) is, potentially, one of Mississippi's top running backs prospects for the upcoming 2004 season. An All-Region 2-4A team selection, Carlos rushed for 840 yards and 11 touchdowns on 86 carries. He also had 230 yards and 2 touchdowns on 14 catches.

Carlos Kern Profile:

The younger brother of current Mississippi State linebacker Kenny Kern, Carlos is receiving recruiting letters from schools in the SEC, Big Ten and Big East Conferences.

"I'm receiving letters from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, Michigan, Miami and Alabama," said Carlos.

Carlos, after camping at Mississippi State, Delta State and the Steve McNail camp last summer, is also looking forward to attending several college camps this coming summer.

"I am going back down to Starkville," said Carlos. "I would also like to go to Ole Miss' camp. I'm also going to the Nike camp. We may go back to the Delta State camp, although I'm not sure about that."

While it's still very early in the recruiting process, Carlos has a list of schools that he is interested in, although he doesn't have a clear-cut leader.

"For some reason I like out of state teams," said Carlos. "I've got to put LSU on my list. Then USC (Southern Cal), Southern Miss, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss and Mississippi State."

With good size and speed to go along with his play-maker ability on the field, Carlos is looking forward to another outstanding senior season for Mississippi 4A powerhouse Clarksdale High School.
