Class of 2005 Prospect - MS WR Lorenzo Lewis

Lorenzo Lewis (Bay HS, 5-foot-9, 170, 4.5) looks to be one of Mississippi's best at the wide receiver position for the upcoming 2004 season. He as selected his district's Most Valuable Offensive player last season after catching 54 passes for 1,157 yards (tops in the state of Mississippi) and 12 touchdowns.

Lorenzo Lewis Profile:

An all-around athlete who also participates in basketball and track, Lorenzo is starting to hear from several schools, including a couple of in-state schools.

"I've received letters from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Rice and Southern Miss," said Lorenzo.

Although he attended the LSU and Ole Miss camps last summer, Lorenzo isn't sure which camps he wll be attending this coming summer.

"(Bay HS assistant coach Carl Rogers) said they are going to try to get us in some team camps and some individual camps," said Lorenzo. "In May, (teammate) Javon (Williams) and I are going to the elite Nike camp at LSU."

Despite it being very early in the recruiting process, Lorenzo quickly named several schools that he is currently interested in.

"I have about five that I like," said Lorenzo. "I like Arkansas, Ole Miss, Florida State, Nebraska and Florida. I also like Mississippi State. I went up there for a camp in my 9th and 10th grade years."

While his outstanding stats indicate what kind of player he is on the field, Lorenzo's 3.5 grade point average in the classroom also shows that he is just as good academically.

If he has another season like he had last year, don't be surprised to see this youngster jump into the recruiting scene big-time his senior season.
