[Premium article] Read the latest recruiting news on four players MSU is evaluating.

James Adams is a top senior defensive end from the state of Alabama. He plays for Tuscaloosa County High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. James, who is 6-foot-4 and weighs 235 pounds (down from 250 at the beginning of the season) is receiving heavy interest from Mississippi State. In fact, James told me that, "Mississippi State is definitely one of my top schools. I'm still waiting to see which school is the best choice for me." Other schools that are calling James includes the likes of UAB, Memphis, Troy State, Tennessee Tech. Alabama has also given James a call. As far as official visits are concerned, James feels that State appears to be getting close to setting one up. He has also received a scholarship offer from Tennessee Tech. James also mentioned to me that he received a scholarship offer from Mississippi State during their summer camp this past summer.

Richard Burch Brandon High School offensive lineman Richard Burch, arguably the top senior offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi this year, was at the Mississippi State vs. Kentucky game this past weekend. Richard, who is 6-foot-6, 290-pounds, has not set up any official visits yet. "I have been busy with football," said Richard. "I plan on setting some up soon." Richard, who committed to Mississippi State earlier in the season and remains committed to them, is still considering other schools. "I am looking at Florida and Florida State," said Richard. "I will probably go to Ole Miss and check them out. And I'm thinking about visiting LSU." Of those schools, Richard said, "Ole Miss has talked about setting up an official visit."

Michael Evans Olive Branch (MS) High School's Michael Evans (6-2, 250, 5.0) is considered by some as one of the top senior defensive linemen in the state of Mississippi this year. Michael, who benches in the 360 range and squats in the 550 range, told me that he is hearing from the likes of the University of Tennessee-Martin, the University of Illinois, Delta State and Mississippi State. Michael told me that he has set up an official visit with UT-Martin for November 9th-11th. Michael has played various positions on the defensive line this season. Although his team hasn't had the season that they wanted to have this season, he has done well individually. He has attended several Mississippi State games this season including the Mississippi State vs. Troy State game as well as the Mississippi State vs. Kentucky game last weekend.

John Skelton Madison Central High School kicker John Skelton is one of the top senior kickers in the state of Mississippi this season. On the year, he has made 7 of 9 field goal attempts with a long of 42 yards. He is 24 of 24 on PAT's. He has also punted for a 39+ average with 9 of 24 punts landing inside the 20 yard line. Several schools have contacted him. According to his dad, he met with Coach Sherrill and Coach Davis prior to the Mississippi State vs. Kentucky game. He has also heard from Troy State and other schools. John took over the starting place kicker's job earlier in the season.

[Look for more player interviews later today, including interviews with more of the top senior players and some of the top junior players (football and basketball) in the state of Mississippi. I will also have an interview with the dad of one of the top five sophomore football players in Mississippi. - Gene]
