"South Alabama is a tough ballclub. They just had a tough early schedule. (8 of their 12 games have been against top 25 ranked teams.-Gene)
"I thought that both pitchers pitched very well. The changeup is a very effective pitch and both pitchers have a changeup.
"We did a good job in the first inning against their guy, but he has a little bulldog in him. He decided he wasn't going to give up anymore runs. I don't think we got a hit for three or four innings. But, thankfully, we got three well-hit balls at the end of the ballgame (that won the game). The one Joseph hit (that knocked in the winning run) could have been a double play ball but it ate their second baseman up pretty good.
"(Saunders) Ramsey came in and did what you have to do (to win the game). Even though he hit the first guy, he came in and threw strikes and made people run out of bat and got four strikeouts in an inning and a third."
Talk about your injury situation.
"We can't afford to have another injury. Jeffrey Rea tweaked his hamstring (today). I don't think it is a pull. He won't play (Wednesday). Hopefully, we will get him back this weekend. Michael Rutledge has a bad wrist. Bunky Kateon has a rotator cuff rehab and Jon Mungle is out for the year (with an ACL). I think it is like what (MSU basketball player) Ontario Harper has. I don't remember having a ballclub banged up with injuries like we have now. Hopefully, we will get Bunky back. It will be daily with Rutledge. He will eventually have to have an operation on a tendon that keeps sliding over his bond. Right now, he has to play through it. It only affects his hitting."
Do you have a projection on when Bunky will be ready to play?
"We are hoping two and a half weeks. He has to pass a certain test. He can hit right now. He can run. But he's not released to throw. He doesn't have the strength to throw the ball across the diamond. And he will fatigue very quickly."
When do you expect the new video board/scoreboard will be ready?
"It is supposedly in construction back at their headquarters. They don't build it here. It should be heading here in a couple of weeks. Once it gets here, it doesn't take long to put it up."
Who will you pitch Wednesday?
