"It was a good win for us but I wish we could have won the series. And we had opportunities to do that. Today, we got the timely, two-out hits, which they got the first two days. The pitching for Southern Cal may have not been as good as the first two days. I thought that Kennedy and Paschal pitched us very well. I also thought our pitchers pitched them good all weekend. And we didn't make an error. I think we pitched good enough to win two out of three, but Southern Cal is a great ballclub that is very well coached. We wish them well."
Your pitching pitched really well today.
"We did what we wanted to do with Alan Johnson today. We pitched him 40 to 45 pitches. Then, we got the lead and Josh Johnson came in and pumped in strikes. Saunders (Ramsey) has been awesome lately. Hopefully, he keeps that up."
Who will you start on Tuesday and Wednesday?
"Eric Ebers on Tuesday and Brooks Dunn on Wednesday."
You've also used Ebers in relief.
"Yeah, we are going to be a little concerned about the number of pitches he throws. Eric is smooth with his throwing and doesn't get real tired, so we would like to think in terms of helping us for the weekend. We may wind up burning Brooks Dunn for the weekend. Now that we are playing five games a week, it is going to test the depth of our pitching staff. The coaches from Southern Cal love our pitching staff. They feel like we have good arms. We do and we throw strikes."
Have you figured out where Josh Johnson fits on the pitching staff?
"Right now, he is the type of guy that we can do a lot of things with. He can be a long reliever, a guy who can burn a lot of innings for us. Right now, it is too early in the season to know if he is going to be a starter."
