"I have offers from Mississippi State, Auburn, and of course Toledo re-offered me," Emory Jones said. (He originally signed with the Rockets out of high school)
Despite spending his entire childhood in
Michigan, Emory has grown fond of his southern lifestyle at NECC.
"I'm going to stay in the south. I
like the style of play down here, and I'd like to play in the SEC."
Which schools top the list so far?
"The top 3 overall are Tennessee, Florida,
and Mississippi State. I'm going to watch how they do this year,
before making a decision."
What has put the Vols, Gators, and Dogs out to an
Tennessee: "They breed receivers like
Donte Stallworth and Peerless Price. Their coach is doing big
Florida: "They have a top 5 offense.
The ball is constantly in the air and I like that."
Miss St: "Honestly, it's their
coaching staff. I like them a whole lot, and I already knew Coach Holiday
from when he recruited me in high school for Western Michigan."
While the 3 SEC teams hold an advantage, Emory
also has his eye on an ACC power.
"I grew up a Florida State fan. If
they were to show me some attention like the others, they'd jump right up in
there with them."
Jones is on track to graduate in December, but
don't necessarily expect the NECC star to be committed by the Christmas
holidays. He insists that he will take his time and analyze the seasons
of each of his favorites. Emory hopes to major in Business Administration.
