Class of 2005 Prospect - MS OL D.J. Lacey

Is offensive lineman D.J. Lacey (Raymond HS, 6-4, 319, 5.2) well known in the recruiting circles? With at least 16 schools sending him letters, including over half of the SEC, the answer appears to be a resounding yes.

D.J. Lacey Profile:

A starter since his 10th grade season, D.J. came on strong this past year, earning MAC Second-Team All-State.

And colleges have definitely taken noticed of this big, strong, intelligent young man as evidenced by the letters he is receiving.

"Alabama, Auburn, Stanford, Arkansas, Nebraska, Southern Miss, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and a couple more are sending me letters," said Lacey, a very articulate young man who is currently making A's and B's in the classroom.

With so many schools sending him letters and a lot of them asking him to attend their summer camps, Lacey is in a quandary as to which schools he will camp at this summer.

"I haven't a clue," said Lacey. "LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn have asked me to come (to their camps). I would also be interested in going to a camp at Mississippi State. Basically, all the SEC schools have asked me to come. I'm trying to figure which ones I will go to if I decide to go to any."

Although he wasn't sure where he is going to camp this summer, he didn't have as much of a problem answering the question about which colleges he is most interested in at this time. So far, it appears his favorites are ones that he has taken unofficial visits to and is most familiar with.

"Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU are college campuses that I have seen," said Lacey. "They treated me real well when I went up to see them. Plus, I have an inside connection who could show me the ropes as far as Ole Miss goes. (Ole Miss DE) Jayme Mitchell and I are real close. I would also say Alabama and UAB. I also like Mississippi State after seeing some film on them from a year before last."

Definitely a player with potential to be a prime time target for a lot of schools in the south, keep an eye on this youngster until next year's signing date.
