Class of 2005 Prospect - MS OL Craig Jenkins

Craig Jenkins (Pearl HS, 6-4, 330), not only one of the biggest offensive line prospects but also an excellent student, is one of the top linemen in the state of Mississippi this year.

Craig Jenkins Profile:

College coaches quickly took notice of this 6-foot-4, 330-pounder after he earned first-team All-District and second-team All-Metro last season.

"Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Notre Dame, the University of Louisville, Auburn and West Virginia are sending me letters," Jenkins said, a starter since the 10th grade.

An excellent student in the classroom with a 3.2 grade point average, Craig has also made a qualifying score of 17 on his ACT.

Not only a good football player and student, Jenkins also does well in powerlifting where he earned 4th place in his classification last season. His max in the bench press is 300 and his max in the squat is 485.

Where players camp in the summer is usually an early indicator of what colleges they are interested in. Jenkins camped at one college last season and has two he is looking at this summer.

"Last summer I went to Mississippi State," said Jenkins. "This year I might go to Ole Miss'. I might try to go back to Mississippi State."

With the May evaluation period underway, Craig hasn't received any calls as of yet, but a couple of coaches have visited his school.

"A coach from Southern Miss came through and I also saw a coach from West Virginia," said Jenkins, a cousin of former Mississippi State wide receiver Justin Jenkins, also an alumnus of Pearl High School.

Growing up a fan of no particular school, Jenkins is just waiting to see which schools will step forward with calls and offers before deciding which teams he is most interested in.
