Class of 2006 Prospect - TN Forward Thaddeus Young

Thaddeus Young, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from Mitchell High School in Memphis, Tennessee, is rated by several recruiting analysts as one of the top 15 to 20 junior-to-be basketball players in the nation.

Thaddeus Young Profile:

There are a lot of great 6-foot-8 sophomores. What do you think causes you to be ranked so highly in the class of 2006?
"My willingness to work."

What has your coach instilled in you that has helped you to become the player you are today?
"He is the one that has made us work so hard."

Have you always been so good even when you were just starting out playing basketball?
"No sir."

Really? When did you notice that you were becoming a pretty good basketball player?
"The eight grade."

I know you play AAU basketball. How long have you been playing it?
"I've played it the last three or four years."

What schools have contacted you with questionnaires?
"Princeton, Stanford, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Memphis, Tennessee, Indiana, Mississippi State and a lot of others."

[Thaddeus, an excellent student who takes advanced placement classes, has a 4.3 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. He has been offered a scholarship by both Tennessee and Colorado, according to one of his teammates. According to Mitchell HS Athletic Director Henry Baskins, all three players are expected to take an unofficial visit to Mississippi State this coming fall.-Gene]
