South Hot 100 DB Going to the Bulldogs

<a href="http://recruiting.theinsiders.com/3/2005_fb_south_100.html">South Hot 100</a> has made his decision. <b>Keith Fitzhugh</b> has committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

"I committed this weekend. I was set to camp there and visit unofficially. I did that and then committed to Coach Croom before I left" said Keith Fitzhugh.

What factored into his commitment?

"There was a lot of things that I liked about them. They have a great engineering program, and I plan to major in computer engineering. I will be able to come in and compete for playing time. I met with Coach Croom, and I really liked him. He seems like he'll be great Coach to play for. Once I got to sit down and talk to him, I knew that was the place for me."

Fitzhugh had visits to South Carolina and North Carolina planned for this week...will they still take place?

"No sir, I am done. I will not take anymore visits. I will take an official to Mississippi State in the fall, and that will be it for me. I am not looking at anymore schools. I am finished with recruiting and will enroll at Mississippi State in January of 2005."

Vanderbilt finished second in the race for Keith Fitzhugh. What put the Bulldogs ahead of the Commodores?

"Well, playing time is about the same, distance is about the same, but Mississippi State recruited me a little harder, I have have a former teammate playing there now and I just felt at home in Starkville."

Keith will continue to wear number eleven at Mississippi State as he does now at Lovejoy.

Sidenote: Paul Gonnella coached at Lovejoy High School prior to taking the graduate assistant coaching job at MSU last summer. He coached Keith when he was a freshman, and he played a major role is his recruitment.
