Ticket sales pass 2003 total

Mississippi State announced Wednesday that sales of season football tickets for 2004 have surpassed the total sales of last year.

As of mid-week the Ticket Office was reporting sales had topped 34,000, with two weeks remaining until kickoff. Last year's final listed count was 33,776. These totals include all full-season packages, including student tickets as well as Club Level and skybox tickets.

Though the '04 slate does not include most of the traditional rivalry games that highlighted the 2003 schedule, the sales pace has picked up markedly this August. The start of the Sylvester Croom Era at MSU has been a definite boost to sales after three losing seasons. And MSU officials credit the new $99 package, for all seven home games, for helping spark more late-summer interest.

The official record for any season was set in 2002 with reported sales of 37,761 ducats through September.
