Class of 2005 Prospect - GA WR/DB Anthony Barnes

Anthony Barnes (Cartersville (GA) HS, 6-4, 206. 4.6) is an outstanding wide receiver/defensive back from the state of Georgia. Anthony is receiving strong recruiting interest from a number of colleges, including Mississippi State.

Anthony Barnes Profile:

Barnes, a big wide receiver who also plays safety, is receiving interest from several colleges throughout the south. In fact he has offers from at least seven schools. "Middle Tennessee, Florida, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Mississippi State and a couple more (Ball State is one) that I can't think of right now have offered," said Barnes, also a pretty good basketball player.

When asked which schools are his favorites, he quickly named one school, then hesitated a few seconds and named several more. "North Carolina, right now," said Barnes. "I also like Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia."

Planning to major in computers in college, he explained what he likes about each school.

North Carolina
"It seems like a really good place. I really like their basketball team. I have also heard that it is a beautiful campus. My coaches are telling me that."

Tennessee
"I like their crowds, their fans and their stadium. I like that they always have good teams and a winning tradition."

Alabama
"A lot of people that I know outside of the state of Georgia tell me that's the place to go."

Georgia
"They are the Bulldogs, everybody loves them."

Although he doesn't currently list Mississippi State as one of his favorites, that appears to be more due to lack of familarity than anything else. He said he really knows nothing about them and that that will have to change before Mississippi State jumps into his recruiting picture. "When it comes down to it, it will take me getting more familiar with them," said Barnes.
