[Premium article] Keith Andrews, a 6-1, 175-pound kicker for Quachita Christian High School in Monroe, Louisiana, personifies what a student/athlete is supposed to be.

Keith, a very respectful and unassuming young man, plays football, soccer and baseball and plays all of them quite well. At the same time, he has maintained a 4.0 grade point average, academically.

In fact, according to the Quachita Christian High School's athletic director, Micah Harper, Keith, "is a great student and may also be the ace of our pitching staff this coming season." Not only that, Mr. Harper also said, "I believe he is the leading scorer on the soccer team right now. He was also our backup quarterback. He works extremely hard and has turned himself into an athlete."

Although Keith excels in all the sports he participates in, what has set him apart is his kicking ability in football.

According to Mr. Harper, Keith, has, "kicked two 53-yarders and I believe he kicked a 49-yarder as well as the 59-yarder." The 59-yarder is an unofficial Louisiana High School record. Keith mentioned that he has also kicked field goals of 62 and 63 yards in practice. Not only is he a good field goal kicker but he has also made 27 of 28 extra point attempts.

And colleges have definitely taken notice of Keith's kicking ability.

He has already received scholarship offers from Mississippi State and Michigan and is also being recruited by Arkansas and Princeton.

In fact, not only has he offers on the table, but Keith has already started taking his official visits.

"I have already been to Michigan," Keith said when asked what schools he will visit. "I visited them during the November 30th weekend."

He also mentioned that he has set up an official visit the weekend of January 11-13th with Mississippi State. According to Keith, Mississippi State has been recruiting him for awhile. "I believe the first time (they contacted me) was a couple of months ago," Keith said.

Keith is being recruited by Mississippi State assistant coach Craig Stump, who Keith described as, "a really nice guy."

When asked whether he was leaning to any school at this time, Keith seemed to still be open as to his school of choice. "No sir, I haven't really decided."

Although he isn't sure of his choice of a school, he is sure of the factors that will determine what school he will choose. A pre-med major, Keith said, "academics and playing time are the most important things."

With an official visit already taken and one on the horizon and scholarship offers on the table, Keith now has only one major decision left and that is choosing the school he feels meets his college criteria.

[Update: Keith committed to Mississippi State Tuesday night, December 11th.]
